Vitor Meira [#14 ABC Supply Co. AJ Foyt Racing] takes fire on pit lane and makes an hard crash few laps later, on lap 173, on turn 1 with Raphael Matos [#2 US Air Force Luczo Dragon] Meira was admitted to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis after sustaining fractures of the L1 and L2 vertebras. Amazing last lap crash during the 2010 Indy 500. Mike Conway is launched into the fence and his car is disintegrated. He is later transported by helicopter to a local hospital after injuries to his leg.
Dario Franchitti won his 2nd Indianapolis 500, but Mike Conway was involved in a very bad wreck on the last lap when his car went airborne and into the fence. He was awake and alert, but had an injured leg and was flown to a local hospital because of traffic. More info will be posted when we hear more on his condition. Tony Kanaan started in dead last (33rd) and made his way up to the 2nd position with less than 10 laps to go, but he needed to pit for a quick splash of feul and finished 11th. Incredible scenes at the end of this years Indy 500. While the leaders tried to save fuel to finish the race, Mike Conway has one of the most horrendous accidents at Indy. He made contact with Ryan Hunter Reay and gets launched into the air, flies into the catchfence. The car disintegrates and Mike Conway survives… All the best to Mike, hopefully he will make a speedy recovery soon!
